2002 - Doctorate of Nursing, Honorius Causa from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology,
Commissioner of Qld Crime and Misconduct Commission.
1986 - Awarded Order of Australia Medal for services to nursing education and aboriginal health.
2006 - Named 'Senior of the Year 'in New South Wales
1997 - Instrumental in the formation of Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses.
Co-Editor (with Kerryanne LIDDLE, Prof. Journalist) of the book 'In Our Own Right, Black Australian Nurses' Stories'.
