COSSON, Elizabeth

Special Achievements:

Elizabeth Cosson was the first woman to be promoted to the rank of Major General, making her the first Australian woman to reach “two-star” rank in the Australian Army.  Prior to that Elizabeth Cosson had been the first woman promoted to the rank of Brigadier.  Her work in defence logistics has contributed to peace operations in Cambodia, the 1999 operations in East Timor and Bougainville.  She has also been responsible for managing the integrated service delivery to Defence bases across Australia.  Major General Cosson retired from full-time military service in November 2010.
