Ida Grace FRANCIS

Born: 22 July 1892

Died: 28 September 1959

Special Achievements:

1923-1925 - First Australian Inland Mission (A.I.M.) at Birdsville Hospital, Birdsville, Shire of Diamantina, Queensland.
1950 - Awarded Member of British Empire (MBE) medal by King George VI.

Additional Information:

1932-1933 - Australian Inland Mission (A.I.M.) sister at Victoria Downs Hospital, Northern Territory. Responsible for raising money for memorial Elsey Station Homestead.
During World War II – Commandant of the Volunteer Aid Detachment where she trained 500 volunteers.
Grace helped to set up the Birdsville branch of the Country Women's Association (CWA).
