Nancy Kelly was a woman of the land. To keep her family out of debt she took in boarders, taught dancing, did dressmaking, and bookkeeping. Also cattle buying and running several businesses. Nancy was interested in politics and was for years the president of the National Party Ladies Section and as well as councilor with the Herberton Shire Council for several terms, and president of the local library.Additional Information:
Nancy was a descendant of Reverend William Pascoe Crook, who was one of the first missionaries from the British and Foreign Bible Society and came out on The Duff in 1790 to Sydney and founded the Congregational Church in Sydney.
