1911 - First Australian opera super star.
First Australian singer to be recorded on cylinder.
First performer in the world to have an opera broadcast live on radio (England).
1918 - Dame of the British Empire (DBE).
1927 - Awarded Dame Grand Cross of the British Empire (GBE).
1929 - Awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire.
2001 - Inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
She made her first public appearance at the age of six, singing Shells of the Ocean.
The classic Australian dishes “Peach Melba” and “Melba Toast” were named after her.
